Sciphone Dream G2 - The First Clone of Google G1?
“If things go smoothly, G2 will debut in 2 to 3 weeks.” Mr. Li, from Uni-top Technology Ltd, told reporters on Nov. 28, 2008.
Many distributors, including Mr. Li, received a sample phone named Sciphone Dream G2 recently.
G2 is a GSM Tri-band phone, running on Android Home Edition V1.0 operating system. It supports WiFi/EDGE, 16GB TF card.
The phone has many exciting features: built-in Google search, Google map, Gmail, YouTube, Google SMS, Blogger, etc. It is a simplified version of G1 with a smaller screen, despite that a slide-to-open keyboard is not available.
G1 is a new favorite of mobile phone industry. It runs on the operating system developed by Google, an icon in web-search industry. The device is manufactured by HTC, which is an OEM giant. On Oct. 22, 2008, T-Mobile and Google released their maiden work in telecommunication field: the G1, a revolutionary smart phone, with a price tag of US$179(Price Valid with 2-Year Contract and a data plan). In a very short time, G1 has catapulted to the same level of fame as the iphone. Large numbers of unlicensed G1 arrived in China. They are listed at around US$600 in Zhonguancun. No Chinese version available now and you have to pay US$75 to buy a crack-code to unlock the phone. In spite of this, G1 is still a hot item to its fans in china, because Google has not officially released it in China yet.
